Uncle Pono's letter about the design in 2019
Aloha kakou,
About a month ago I started feeling like the reference of aloha on items has become a bit much and so I designed a shirt with my friend. This is the t-shirt that shares aloha but doesn't have aloha explicitly written on it. When we wear it, if others know they know, and if they ask we can tell them this is aloha: Akahai, Lokahi, Olu olu, Haa haa, and Ahonui. Olelo Hawaii is hidden behind the English and reminds folks that there are foundational principles or behaviors which reveal aloha. It's much more than a word.
It's a wonderful time of learning.
